• Man Set Fire Behind East Islip Bar After Being Kicked Out: DA (patch.com) — Residents in Islip Terrace and East Islip are learning more about charges against a 60-year-old local man accused of returning to Riley Fibbers Bar with gasoline and setting a fire behind the occupied business. Prosecutors say surveillance video, a witness license plate tip, and recovered evidence led to his arrest, and he is now being held on high bail while facing serious arson and stolen property charges.
   

• Islip mulls lifting conflict-of-interest ban for officials (newsday.com) — Islip Town leaders are considering scrapping a 2016 ethics rule that bars elected officials from holding most party leadership posts, with a public hearing set for December 16. The move follows the election of a town board member who is also a local GOP vice chair, and has sparked debate over keeping politics separate from day-to-day town governance.
