Possible LI Storms To Weave In Between Sunny Days: Weekend Weather

LONG ISLAND, NY — Keep your umbrellas in your car, Long Islanders.

Rain will weave in and out of the forecast between sunny skies this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers and a possible thunderstorm will take place on Thursday after 3 p.m., with a 80 percent chance of precipitation. The rainfall will continue into Thursday night.

Friday will show sunny skies with a high of 85 degrees.

But possible rain will appear again on Saturday, with a 40 percent chance of showers after 8 p.m.

Sunny skies will return on Sunday and Monday.

Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 2.p.m. High near 82. South wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 66. South wind 9 to 13 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 85. West wind 10 to 13 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 68. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. South wind 5 to 13 mph.

Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers after 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.
