Possible Thunderstorms, Then Sunny Skies This Weekend: LI Weather

LONG ISLAND, NY — After a possible chance of thunderstorms, Long Island can expect sunny skies for the first weekend of August.

Thursday will continue a streak of beach-worthy weather, with a high of 83 degrees. A chance of showers will creep into Thursday night and continue through Friday afternoon.

A chance of showers and possible thunderstorms will take place after 2 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of precipitation.

The skies dry up on Saturday through Sunday, leaving ample opportunities to soak up some sun at the beach or pool.

Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Northwest wind around 8 mph.
