Rain To Return This Weekend To LI: What To Expect

LONG ISLAND, NY — A dense fog advisory is in effect until 10 a.m., as a widespread fog occurred across much of Long Island and southern Connecticut on Thursday morning, the National Weather Service said.

If driving, be sure to slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you, the service said.

Otherwise, Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high near 72 degrees.

Rain will return to Long Island this weekend, with a possible chance of rain on Friday morning.

Showers are most likely on Saturday, and Long Island can expect between a quarter and a half inch of rain.

Skies will lighten up on Sunday, and Indigenous People's Day on Monday, with a high of 62 degrees.

Saturday: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. East wind 7 to 9 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
