Reworld™ Comes Together to Stamp Out Hunger®
Reworld™ helped package more than 200,000 pounds of donated, non-perishable food items to be delivered to local food pantries
Reworld™, a leader in sustainable waste solutions, helped package more than 200,000 pounds of donated, non-perishable food items to be delivered to local food pantries throughout Long Island. Through volunteering and donating, Reworld™ employees greatly contributed to Island Harvest Food Bank and the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) annual Stamp Out Hunger® food collection campaign. Volunteers put in extensive effort at a warehouse in Islandia to prepare the collected items for distribution to local food pantries.
“It is beyond rewarding to see the dedicated employees from Reworld™ come together and play such an active part in supporting Stamp Out Hunger,” said Randi Shubin Dresner, president & CEO, Island Harvest. “What we can accomplish when we work together for a common cause is truly amazing. Strong community ties are pivotal for tackling issues such as hunger on Long Island, which is why I am so grateful Reworld™ could work together and play a large role in supporting this mission.”
Every year, on the second Saturday in May, Stamp Out Hunger holds the nation’s largest single-day food drive. Last year, the initiative helped provide approximately 300,000 meals for families in need across Long Island. Reworld™ took part in this initiative, reflecting the ongoing commitment to environmental and social responsibility the company upholds. Reworld™ employees played an active part in supporting this vital cause by working together to sort and lift hundreds of food packages.

The NALC, in partnership with the United States Postal Service, organized this nationwide effort with food banks across the country, including Island Harvest on Long Island. Postal customers were encouraged to leave non-perishable food donations by their mailboxes, which letter carriers picked up along their routes and delivered to a central warehouse. This is where teams of volunteers, including this year’s dedicated employees from Reworld™, worked to sort and package the donated food. This combined effort helped restock local food pantries that typically see a marked decrease in donations during the summer months.
“Being a part of a team that shows up together for such an important cause is heartwarming,” said Maureen Early, Lead Community Relations Specialist at Reworld™. “At Reworld™, we are dedicated to making a real impact in the communities we serve and we are proud to support Stamp Out Hunger each year and help provide meals to those in need on Long Island.”
