Truck Over Height Limit Crashes Into Overpass; 1 Hurt: State Police

ISLIP, NY — One person was injured and several lanes on the Southern State Parkway in Islip were closed Monday evening after a tractor trailer over the height limit attempted to travel through an underpass, state police told Patch.

The crash, labeled "Truck vs Bridge" on 511NY, happened around 3 p.m. The tractor trailer was westbound between Exit 43S - NY 111 and Exit 42N - CR 13 (Islip), when it attempted to travel through Commack Road Underpass, police said.

The debris of the collision then crashed into another vehicle, injuring one person. The person was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
