Burglar Steals $60K In Cash, Jewelry From Elmhurst Home: NYPD
The thief tried to hit another home less than a week later but was scared off by a woman who lived there, police said.

ELMHURST, QUEENS -- Police are searching for a burglar who stole roughly $60,000 from an Elmhurst home and then attempted another heist in a nearby home less than a week later.
The man first broke into a home along 52 Avenue on May 25 at around 9:05 p.m. He snagged around $40,000 in jewelry and $20,000 in cash before hopping into a dark colored sedan and fleeing, police said.
But the perp wasn't as successful in his second burglary attempt, done with a partner on May 31 at around 10:45 a.m. The two broke in through the back door of a home on 69 Street, but got cold feet when they came face-to-face with the 59-year-old woman living in the home, police said.
