Driver Who Crashed Into Tree In Queens Arrested For Fake Plates
An Elmhurst man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and fake plates after he drove into a tree in Jackson Heights, police say.

ELMHURST, QUEENS — An Elmhurst man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and fake plates after he slammed into a tree and injured himself and a passenger, according to police.
Police on Wednesday arrested Jhovany Acuahuitl, 21, after he drove into a tree on 83rd Street in Jackson Heights.
Officers checking his license and registration discovered he had a suspended driver's license and no insurance and that his Alabama license plate wasn't on file with the local DMV, a police source told Patch.

Acuahuitl now faces a litany of charges that includes aggravated unlicensed driving, driving without insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle and possession of a forged item.
The crash left him with a leg injury and his 23-year-old passenger bleeding from her face, police said. EMS brought them to Elmhurst Hospital Center.

He was also charged with marijuana possession, police said.
Acuahuitl crashed just before 9 a.m. Wednesday in front of 37-33 83rd St. in Jackson Heights, according to an FDNY spokesperson.
The impact smashed the hood of the driver's silver sedan, videos posted to the Citizen app show.
