Man Tries To Rape Woman In Elmhurst, Police Say

The man repeatedly touched the 28-year-old woman inappropriately before running off, police say.

ELMHURST, QUEENS -- Police are searching for the man who they said tried to rape a 28-year-old woman in Elmhurst.

The perp approached the woman on April 28 at around 10:35 p.m. near Junction Boulevard and 52 Avenue and tried to put his hand down her pants, cops said. When he couldn't, the man grabbed the woman's groin area over her clothes before running away.

The woman was sent to a local hospital and is in stable condition, authorities said.

The NYPD released surveillance photos on Thursday of the man, who police described as 30 to 40 years old and around 5-foot-4 with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, a purple and yellow baseball cap and carrying a backpack.
