Pedestrian Hit, Killed In Jackson Heights Crash: NYPD

The man was hit while crossing Northern Boulevard early Monday morning, police say.

JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS -- A 47-year-old Queens man has died after he was hit by a car in Jackson Heights on Monday morning, police said.

Cops responding to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck on Northern Boulevard just after 12:30 a.m. found Carlos Gavilanes lying between 100 and 101 streets with trauma to his body, authorities said.

Medics rushed Gavilanes to Elmhurst General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Queens man, who lived right around the corner from the crash, was crossing Northern Boulevard when he was mowed down by a 2003 Honda Civic, NYPD Highway District investigators said.

The 24-year-old woman driving the car remained at the scene after the crash, cops said.

Police made no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
