Teen Boy Shot In Jamaica, Police Say

A teenage boy has been hospitalized after he was shot in the stomach Friday afternoon, an NYPD spokesman said.

JAMAICA, QUEENS -- One man is in custody after a teenage boy was shot in the stomach in South Jamaica, police told Patch.

Police said the teenage boy was shot once in the stomach at around 2:15 p.m. on Friday near 184-17 140th Ave. Officers don't yet know what led up to the shooting, an NYPD spokesman said.

The boy is currently being treated at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Forest Hills and the extent of his injuries is unknown, police said. The NYPD did not name the suspect in custody for the shooting, saying he had not yet been formally arrested or charged.
