8-Week-Long Washington Street Closure Starts This Month
The sewer construction work on the street in Mamaroneck will bring new detours to the Washingtonville neighborhood.

MAMARONECK, NY — A Mamaroneck neighborhood that has struggled to handle increased car traffic because of recent construction projects, will see new detour signs soon.
The Village of Mamaroneck announced that Washington Street will be closed to most traffic starting Monday, July 11, between 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., for an expected period of eight weeks.
Green Mountain Pipeline Services, on behalf of the village, will be performing new sewer construction work on Washington Street, between Old White Plains Road and Plaza Avenue. Due to the work, only Washington Street residents and emergency traffic will be permitted to enter Washington Street. After 5 p.m., the street will re-open to thru traffic.

Drivers and residents of the Washingtonville neighborhood and surrounding areas should expect traffic in addition to construction and detour signs while the work is ongoing. It is recommended that drivers use Hoyt Avenue and other alternative routes. Driving and parking in this area is expected to be difficult.
Officials said the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department will be present to ensure safety.
