Audio Pro to Tell Stories of Music, Sound in Movies, Advertisements

Micah Kovacs will give talk as part of Village of Mamaroneck Arts Council's 'Arts Live' program.

MAMARONECK (November 2, 2016) – Everyone knows how the right music and sound can elevate a movie scene or advertisement into something memorable. On Sunday, November 13, award-winning audio producer, engineer and composer Micah Kovacs will talk about how it’s done in the next public lecture in the Village of Mamaroneck Arts Council’s Arts Live initiative.

The talk begins at 3 p.m. in the Community Room of the Mamaroneck Library, 136 Prospect Ave., Mamaroneck.

“When you watch your favorite movie scenes, or a commercial that catches your attention, you may not even realize how the perfectly chosen music and sounds are heightening the effect it has on you,” said Arts Council chair Solange De Santis. “Come to the library onNovember 13 and hear Micah Kovacs talk about how it’s done. Mr. Kovacs is a veteran of the industry who tells fascinating stories about this integral aspect of the entertainment field.”

For more than a decade, Kovacs has fused his backgrounds in music and technology in the advertising and film post audio industry, working at renowned New York City commercial houses such as Hungry Man, 3 Fingered Louie, Pink Noise and Verbatim Studios. His awards include the ADDY (American Advertising Award), the Promax for entertainment marketing and design and awards at various film festivals.

The Arts Live lecture series began in May. Previous speakers include dancer-choreographer Megan Williams and abstract artist Henry Mandell.
