Beloved Family-Owned Mamaroneck Restaurant Closes After 38 Years
Chef Antonio Ristorante has served southern Italian cuisine in Mamaroneck since 1984, but now the lights in the dining room are out.

MAMARONECK, NY — A well-known Italian restaurant in Mamaroneck, Chef Antonio Ristorante, is closing its doors after nearly four decades in business.
The Mamaroneck institution on Halstead Ave. announced on social media Sunday that they have closed after 38 years in business.
The family-owned restaurant was known for its made-from-scratch dishes inspired by Sicily and Abbruzzo, Italy. Chef Mario grew up in southern Sicily and his family members were artichoke farmers. He gave credit to his mother for inspiring many of his recipes. While growing up, he worked as an artichoke farmer. On the restaurant's website, the chef wrote that during the harvest “we ate artichokes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Made in all different, and creative ways.” One of Chef Antonio Ristorante’s signature dishes was the famous stuffed artichoke.

While the owners didn't offer a reason for the decision to close the long-time Mamaroneck favorite restaurant, they simply said they are grateful for the love and support of their patrons throughout the years and that it was bittersweet to say goodbye to a business they poured their hearts and souls into. They added that they are looking forward to the next chapter and signed off with "Con tanto affetto, Mario & Emilia."
