Harbor Island Family Campout Rainout (But There's Some Good News Too)

MAMARONECK, NY — Mother Nature has a long-planned good time on Harbor Island this weekend, but the predicted rotten weather could mean that even more families can join the fun for the rain date.

Due to the predicted rain in tomorrow’s evening forecast, officials have postponed the annual Harbor Island Park Family Camp Out to the scheduled rain date on September 16. The village has a no refund policy, so those no longer able to attend won't be getting a refund, but there is some good news for those with an opening on their calendar next weekend.

"Since the event has been rescheduled, we have decided to keep registration open," Village of Mamaroneck Recreation Leader Pamela DePiro said, breaking the bad news with a spoonful of sugar. "So, tell your family and friends that there is still time for them to join you on a fun filled evening under the stars."

That fun-filled evening under the stars includes an outdoor movie, "DC League of Superpets," with s'mores over the fire, hot chocolate, cornhole, and other outdoor games.

A reminder email will be sent out next week to those already registered with all the information regarding the Camp Out.
