Health Officials Order New Beach Closures After Heavy Overnight Rains
Beaches in New Rochelle, Mamaroneck and Rye were ordered closed to swimmers "until further notice" by the Westchester Health Department.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Heavy rainfall has spoiled end of the summer season beach day plans for at least the immediate future.
The Westchester County Health Department has preemptively closed a handful of Long Island Sound beaches until further notice due to more than two inches of rainfall over the past 24 hours.

"Residents and visitors are advised to avoid contact with the water in the immediate area until further notice, and visit the Westchester County website for the latest updates on beach closures and reopening schedules," the Westchester County Board of Health said. "The County remains committed to maintaining high standards of environmental health and safety across its recreational facilities."
