Hommocks Athletic Fields to Remain Open throughout Winter
The Town of Mamaroneck made the move in response to popular demand from members of the community.

Town of Mamaroneck, NY – The Town of Mamaroneck will expand access to the recreational fields at Hommocks Middle School to students throughout the entire Winter 2025-2026 season.
The move, approved by the Town Recreation Commission on Wednesday, September 10th, will promote recreational opportunities for young residents. This decision, supported by the Town Board, was an effort by all to be responsive to the feedback received from the community.

Town Supervisor Jaine Elkind Eney said, “We are excited to launch this initiative for our students. This is a particularly good time, as we are exploring options for renovating and replacing the fields. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the schools and the community in exploring a long-term solution that serves the best interests of our students and community.”
James Druker, Chairman of the Town Recreation Commission, said, "The Recreation Commission took into account the risk that the fields would be harmed by allowing year-round play, but determined that the risk was outweighed by the reality of the shortage of fields in the community combined with the increased demand by the large youth population.”
