MAMARONECK, NY — Mamaroneck Schools coaxed a former top school official out of retirement to serve as the Interim Principal at Hommocks Middle School.
The Mamaroneck Union Free School District Board of Education has announced that Christopher Borsari will be Interim Principal at Hommocks Middle School, effective November 1. Borsari most recently served for seven years as the Superintendent of the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns until his retirement in June of 2023. He replaces Albert Sackey who is taking an administrative role in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Officials said the board approved a contract for Borsari for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year at its October 17, meeting.

Board of Education President Ariana Cohen said that having Borsari join the Mamaroneck leadership team for this school year is wonderful for the district.
"His experience will be an asset at Hommocks and beyond," Cohen said. "Additionally, Mr. Borsari joining us as an interim Principal allows ample time for the district to do a full-scale search to find the best possible Principal for Hommocks for years to come."

Superintendent Robert Shaps echoed those sentiments.
"We are thrilled to have Mr. Borsari take on this vital role with the Mamaroneck Schools and are confident that his long tenure as an administrator in Westchester County, including two years as a middle school principal, will be of enormous benefit during his time as an interim principal at Hommocks," Shaps said. "He brings a proven track record of collaborating with faculty and staff to create and execute programs focused on strengthening academics and improving students' social and emotional well-being."
As Superintendent of the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns, a culturally and socio-economically diverse community, Borsari was dedicated to developing a positive and inclusive culture for faculty, staff, students and families, along with fostering community relationships, according to the district.
"Middle school is a critical age for development, and I am eager to work in that environment again and to have the opportunity to interact daily with students and the faculty and staff that support them," Borsari said.
Borsari started his career as a middle school teacher in the Byram Hills School District and held that role for ten years before advancing to Assistant Principal at Byram Hills High School. He holds Advanced Certificates and a Master of Arts in Social Studies from Manhattanville College and earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Virginia.
