Library Embezzler Avoids Jail After Repaying Nearly $44K
The theft was discovered when Mamaroneck library officials learned the institution was facing an unexpected $1.4 million shortfall.

MAMARONECK, NY — The Mamaroneck Library business manger, whose malfeasance left the institution's ability to keep its doors open in doubt, has avoided jail time.
Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced on Wednesday that the former business manager of the Mamaroneck Public Library was sentenced to three years of probation for stealing more than $43,000 from the library between 2016 and 2023.
"This defendant violated the trust of her employer and the Mamaroneck community by stealing funds from the Mamaroneck Public Library to benefit herself," Rocah said. "Today’s sentence includes the return of money stolen from the Mamaroneck Public Library."
