MAMARONECK, NY — There might have been no more perfect a premiere to kick off LMC's "The Future Filmmaker Project" than the short film by Mamaroneck High School senior Sara Ettinger.

Ettinger's work, "the in-between," is fitting not because it will be a tough act to follow (though it will), but because it leaves the audience a threshold that demands we take that inevitable step into the unknown. The anticipation for her next film to unhurriedly reveal itself will inarguably translate to anticipation for what the extraordinary project holds for the future.

Ettinger is the first student to take part in the program. She is a Mamaroneck H.S. video student and is headed to Tisch film school in the fall and undoubtedly on to even bigger things.

LMC will be hiring other students for the spring, summer and fall.

The program is accepting student filmmakers from any Larchmont/Mamaroneck school, including Mamaroneck H.S., Rye Neck H.S. and French American H.S. LMC Media are looking for applicants over 16 years old who can share a body of work with producers to show their capabilities.

The Future Filmmaker project was conceived to hire high school filmmakers to create a short film series. The teens get real work experience as filmmakers, without a big time commitment, and all under the guidance of LMC Media.

The program offers an opportunity for the production team as well as actors. Both will be provided with a stipend for their participation. Perhaps, just as importantly, the end results will be seen by LMC's diverse and loyal audience.

It's hard to find fault with a program that develops and showcases some of the most talented young people in the community, but Ettinger's first installment makes it clear that while she has a bright future as a filmmaker, she is already an exceptional filmmaker.

But don't take our word for it — check out her short film and see for yourself.
