Mamaroneck School Budget Decreases Tax Rate

Residents can vote on the proposed budget on May 17.

The proposed 2016-17 Mamaroneck School Budget will deliver a decrease of -4.57 percent in the estimated tax rate.

The Mamaroneck Board of Education proposes the following budget plan:

  • Proposed Budget Total for 2016-17: $133,159,163
  • Budget to Budget Change: -0.55 percent
  • District-wide tax levy change: +0.74 percent

The proposed budget adopted by the Mamaroneck Board of Education fulfills the requirements of New York’s tax levy cap law. The 2016- 2017 budget is about $740,000 less than the 2015-16 budget.

While tax levy increases by 0.74 percent, this will translate to a 4.57 percent decrease in the tax rate per $1,000 of assessed property value.

Mamaroneck residents can vote on the school budget at their neighborhood elementary school. Voting hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on May 17.
