New 3-Year Contract Approved For Mamaroneck Teachers
The new agreement provides for raises, increased classroom time and additional support for students.

MAMARONECK, NY — Teachers in the Mamaroneck Union Free School District have a new contract.
At Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, the superintendent and board of education announced the new three-year agreement between the Mamaroneck Teachers Association (MTA) and the school system, effective through the 2025-2026 school year.
Board members voted to approve the agreement, which includes lengthening the professional day at the secondary level, including increased instructional time for students and students’ access to teachers, and an additional instructional day for all students.

The 2023-2024 superintendent’s recommended budget was calculated with the first year of the new agreement in mind, according to the district.
In a joint statement announcing the settlement, both the MTA and board agreed the new contract resulted from give and take by both parties and will enhance the district's educational program.

"Negotiations went very smoothly," Superintendent Shaps said. "Coming off of the pandemic, we couldn’t be prouder of the professionalism, dedication and commitment that our teachers demonstrate each and every day to all students. The Agreement enables us to meaningfully increase teacher salaries within the realities of the tax cap and focus on being regionally competitive, while strengthening teaching and learning."
MTA President Ann Mosquera concurred.
"Both the MTA and the Board place an emphasis on maintaining the highest quality of education in this district," Mosquera said. "We are pleased that this multi-year contract agreement honors the work of our professional staff and ensures the District has the ability to deliver outstanding educational programs to all students."
The announcement was made at the second of three board meeting budget discussions planned between now and when the board is scheduled to adopt a budget at its April 18 meeting. The voters will decide on next year’s school budget on May 16.
