LARCHMONT, NY — While sports books were busy setting odds on what new name the Washington NFL franchise would finally settle on, one Larchmont baker was keeping the answer top secret.

Larchmont's go-to spot for celebration confections, Seth Greenberg's Just Desserts, was called on to bake the name-reveal cake for the celebration.
The local bakery was free to share the news of a job well done on social media hours after the team officially revealed the much-anticipated new name. The bakery said the impressive-looking Washington Commanders team cake took about 14 hours to complete and required baking and layering several cakes with dark chocolate before eventually carving the whole cake into a giant W. The now iconic cake was then covered with dark chocolate and decorated with the highlight, the classified new team name and logo.

While the name-reveal cake became the center of attention for football fans 250 miles away, the bakery itself has a decidedly Hudson Valley appeal.
On his website, Greenberg notes he chose Larchmont to open his traditional bakery for a good reason.
"There's a discerning clientele here that shares my baking aesthetic," Greenberg explained. "I learned my trade at an old-school New York bakery, trained by my dad and some of the best bakers in the city. I have a fundamental commitment to quality, beginning with the best ingredients. My customers appreciate that."
Greenberg first started selling his baked goods at farmers markets in Larchmont, Scarsdale and Rye. Greenberg notes customers can "taste the value" in using Hudson Valley butter, heavy cream and free-range eggs, apples from local orchards and only organic sugar.
Anyone in Westchester who has had the chance to sample Greenberg's wares already knows, without a doubt, that the primetime-worthy cake that launched a new era in professional sports tasted as good as it looked.
