Parolee With Ankle Monitor Fled I-95 Crash, Leapt Into River: Police
Village of Mamaroneck police learned the Connecticut man was on parole for weapons charges, and handed him over to New York State Police.

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK, NY — Police say a violent parolee took extreme measures to avoid cops, but ultimately ended up in the back of a squad car.
The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department says that on Wednesday, around 7:50 p.m., they were notified by the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center that a crash had taken place with injuries on I-95, near Mamaroneck Avenue.
The driver of one of the vehicles involved had fled the scene towards Mamaroneck Avenue. Officers began searching for that driver.

A person matching the description of the suspect was seen near Mamaroneck Avenue and North Barry Avenue Extension. When police tried to stop their suspect, he fled from them and jumped over a bridge railing into the Mamaroneck River, cops said.
The fleeing man was injured in his fall and then became compliant with officers' commands, police said. An officer then entered the shallow water and took the suspect into custody.

Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Tykeem Shalique Hines, of Stamford, Connecticut.
While police interviewed him, they learned that he was on parole for past weapons possession charges and was wearing an ankle monitor.
Mamaroneck EMS evaluated Hines for injuries from the fall. After he refused medical treatment, he was handed over to the New York State Police.
Hines was charged by state police with traffic infractions and is due to appear in the Village of Mamaroneck Court on May 27.
