Proposed $169M Mamaroneck School Budget On The Ballot May 20
Also on the ballot are two candidates vying for two seats on the Board of Education, and a $20 million Capital Reserve Fund proposition.
LARCHMONT-MAMARONECK, NY — The 2025 budget and school board vote is May 20, and two seats are up for election on the Mamaroneck Union Free School District Board of Education.
The proposed spending plan of $169,191,992 is 6.27 percent higher than the current budget.
The tax levy is expected to be increased 4.98 percent, which is above the tax levy cap of 2.99 percent.

"We do not take this increase lightly and have carefully considered and prioritized each expenditure," Superintendent Charles Sampson and BOE President Ariana Cohen said. "The budget and tax levy increases align with the priorities identified within our Strategic Framework, ensure we provide the essential services and supports to our students, and guarantee our ongoing fiscal stability."
A proposition for a $20 million Capital Reserve Fund will also appear on the ballot. The fund "will allow the district to save for auditorium improvements and media center renovations at Hommocks and MHS, updating playgrounds at our elementary schools, new turf at Manchester Field, HVAC at MHS, and new bleachers at MHS."

Two board seats are up for election, for three-year terms.
Candidates running include: Athena Belsito-Maikish (incumbent) and Stacey D'arcy.
