Victorious Mamaroneck Basketball Teams Earns Accolades From Lions

Host Mamaroneck won the 2-day Keith D. Yizar Memorial Tournament, beating Ardsley and the girls varsity champions topped Port Chester.

MAMARONECK, NY — The Larchmont-Mamaroneck Lions are singing the praises of the hometown teams leaving the home court as champions.

The Lions went all out to congratulate the Mamaroneck High School Keith D. Yizar Memorial Tournament winner.

On December 16, host Mamaroneck High School won the 2-day Keith D. Yizar Memorial Basketball Tournament, with a win over Ardsley High School. The final score 65 to 63. It followed a play-in victory vs Spring Valley High School on Friday.

In the earlier girls tournament championship game, the Mamaroneck girls varsity team beat Port Chester 59 to 46.

The tournament, in its 3rd year, has a special place in the hearts of the Larchmont and Mamaroneck communities. The competition is named after Keith D. Yizar, who was a past standout MHS Basketball player and a long-time active supporter of MHS sports and his neighbors.

The presentation of the Tournament team and individual trophies were sponsored by the Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions Club. The LM Lions are celebrating their 100th Anniversary, to be recognized at their January 28, Centennial Points of Light event at Mamaroneck’s Orienta Beach Club.
