Waterfront Restaurant In Harbor Island Park Idea Takes A Step Forward
The Village of Mamaroneck says that future lease revenues could help support flood mitigation, transportation and public safety.

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK, NY — There could be a new waterfront dining option in the Long Island Sound Shore's future.
The Village of Mamaroneck announced the release of two Requests for Proposals (RFPs) that invest in the future of Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck.
The first RFP is for seasonal vendors this summer to operate a concession within the park, providing food and beverage offerings, health and wellness opportunities, beach and leisure wear, local artists, or crafts.

The second RFP is for a long-term, year-round restaurant operator in the park, which could include one or more locations within the park, indoor and/or outdoor. The village said that it is looking for qualified bidders to "embrace Mamaroneck's maritime roots" in and around the community.

The village says that the main goals of the two RFPs are to "enhance the visitor experience of the park, generate economic investment and integrate community engagement and education within the park through event collaboration and maritime education in partnership with the village."
"The Village of Mamaroneck is embracing its maritime roots with the Village's focus on reimaging Harbor Island Park as an iconic waterfront destination for locals and visitors," Village of Mamaroneck Mayor Sharon Torres said. "The connection to the harbor highlights the potential and vision for drawing in new, economic investment opportunities that benefit our community, and we are excited to see the types of proposals that are submitted."
The Village of Mamaroneck also expects to release an RFP for an updated Master Plan for Harbor Island Park that provides a pathway for future, additional investments in the park.
"Harbor Island Park is a largely untapped resource in the heart of the Village that has the potential to provide even more work, live, play and dine opportunities and a positive economic impact for the Village," Kathleen Gill, Village of Mamaroneck Manager, said. "Harbor Island Park is the beginning of what we hope will serve as a model for future investment in the Village, and we look forward to seeing and reviewing incoming proposals that reflect our vision."
