2 Man In Day On Long Island Dies After Crash Involving Motorcycle: Police

The 54-year-old motorcyclist was struck by an SUV on Sunday in Levittown, Nassau police say.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A 54-year-old motorcyclist who was struck by an SUV on Sunday has succumbed to his injuries, making him the second person in a day to die in Nassau County after a collision involving a motorcycle, police said Tuesday.

Gary Bertsch, of Levittown, was riding a 2019 Aprilia motorcycle, traveling northbound on Valley Road in Levittown when he was involved in a collision with a 2022 Buick SUV being driven by a 20-year-old woman traveling westbound at around 4:46 p.m., according to police.

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local area hospital where had been listed in critical condition, police said, adding that the driver of the
Buick remained at the scene.

Harold Dickert, 87, of Plainview, who was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the street in Valley Stream, died Monday, police said.

The investigations, are ongoing by the police, the department's Public Information Bureau said.
