Common Core Meeting to Be Broadcast Online

New York State Education Commissioner Dr. John King will hold a forum on the new “Common Core” state testing requirements today from 4 p.m. to 6:30 PM at Mineola High School, and Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Nassau) reminds residents that the meeting is being live-streamed online.

The meeting will give parents, students, and educators the opportunity to ask question and express their concerns about the New York State Education Department’s roll out of the Common Core, teacher evaluations, testing and student privacy, Hannon said.

King had been scheduled to hold a similar meeting last month in Garden City but the event was canceled.
