Heavy Rain To Hit Long Island Friday: Hour-By-Hour Forecast

The area could see thunderstorms and up to an inch of rain. Then temperatures will start to drop.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Get out your umbrellas, because our week of beautiful weather is about to come to an end. Long Island is going to get hit with heavy rains on Friday, which will lead into temperatures dropping over the weekend.

The rain is likely start before dawn Friday, and then ramp up as the day goes on. It's also possible a thunderstorm could occur before noon.

Though temperatures will be warm on Friday, they will start to trend downward over the weekend. The high for Friday is predicted to be 66 degrees, and then 61 for Saturday. Sunday's predicted high is 51 degrees.

Friday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 p.m., then showers likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 66. Breezy, with a south wind 14 to 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers before 7 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 45. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 61. Light south wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 38.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 51.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.
