Island Trees HS Orchestra Students Chosen for Long Island Strings Festival

The Island Trees School District recently announced that two high school students have been chosen to represent the school at the LI Strings Festival Association’s Secondary Festival on Nov. 17, held at Plainview Old Bethpage Middle School.  

High school orchestra students Jessica Murphy, a 12th grade viola player, and Timothy Maines, a 9th grade bass player, were chosen for their outstanding performance at last year's NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival.  

The students will be attending intensive rehearsals for two days before the concert.  

"Bravo to Jessica and Timothy, and to their orchestra teacher Mrs. Leiann McGrory!" said Donna J. Donahue, Fine & Performing Arts at Island Trees Public Schools.
