In recognition of School Board Recognition Week, local politicians, district unions, PTA representatives and students from the elementary and secondary schools honored the Board of Education trustees for their volunteer service to the school district and community with citations and tokens of appreciation during the Oct. 23 board meeting.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. James Grossane thanked the trustees for giving up so much of their free time to benefit the students and community.
“We truly appreciate what you take on and do for us and the wonderful results of your service,” he said.
Tokens of appreciation included key-shaped cookies and chocolates from the Gerald R. Claps Career and Technical Center Key Club, character education program (RISE), T-shirts and gift bags from Salk Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society, a donation to the Levittown Food Pantry from Wisdom Lane’s student council and posters from each of the elementary schools.
MacArthur High School gifted mugs and key chains with the school’s logo, while Division Avenue High School gave the trustees items from CoffeeCakes.com to benefit those affected by neurofibromatosis and a donation to the Children’s Tumor Foundation in honor of student Bailey Gribben. The bargaining units and PTA Council also donated to the Levittown Food Pantry at Wisdom Lane Middle School on behalf of the trustees.
Board President Kevin Regan thanked everyone for the kind gifts and appreciation.

“Being a board member is not an easy job, but we all try to do the best we can for the students of the district,” he said.
