Levittown Man Found Guilty of Attempted Murder of Landlord
The man shot at his landlord and went into a standoff against police that put nearby school districts on lockdown, the DA said.

A Levittown man was found guilty Thursday of trying to kill his landlord before having an armed standoff with police in 2014, according to the Nassau County District Attorney.
A jury took two days to declare Rohan Khan, 59, guilty of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, the DA said.
Khan faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, officials said.

At 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 11, an argument between Khan and his landlord escalated into a physical fight in a Carter Lane home, authorities said. Khan pulled the landlord into his home while punching and kicking him before shooting at him as he tried to run away, the DA said.
The victim hid behind his car, which was struck several times by rifle shots that shattered the glass, officials said. The glass injured the landlord and a 54-year-old woman who happened to be driving by, the DA said.

Nearby Island Trees School District was placed on lockdown as Khan and police entered into a two-hour standoff, officials said. Khan eventually surrendered.
“In an outburst of outrageous violence, this defendant beat and shot at his landlord injuring him and a passerby, and endangering everyone in the area,” Acting DA Madeline Singas said. “Thankfully the quick and skillful work of Nassau police neutralized the threat posed by this shooter without any further injuries. I’m grateful to the jury for the time and commitment they gave to this case.”
Khan is due to be sentenced Sept. 4.
