Levittown School Budget Passes

The $195,590,207 budget comes with a tax levy of 2.98 percent.

The Levittown School District budget for the 2013-14 school year has passed, the school board announced Tuesday night.

The total votes tallied were 1,809 for the budget and 1,205 against. 

A proposition for a capital reserve fund of $25 million also passed, 1,348  to 973. The fund is for improvements, including site work, construction, reconstruction, renovation and equipping of school buildings and facilities.

School board incumbents Peg Marenghi, 1,564 votes, and James Moran, 1,604 votes, won re-election for two board seats over newcomer Peter Zirogiannis, who received 1,132 votes.

The Levittown Library annual budget also passed, 1,242 votes for it and 779 against. Margaret Santer won re-election to the board of trustees with 1,501 votes.
