Levittown School District Holds Music Night

Orchestra and band performs for second through fourth graders and parents at the event.

Story by Liz Sobel.

Music study is a highly rewarding component to the fine educational program at Levittown School District. Elementary school students in grades 2-4 and their parents were recently invited to attend District Music Night at Division Avenue High School as a first step in exploring this popular and award-winning program.

After stellar performances by the high school’s orchestra and band, the students were invited to join the performers in the cafeteria to take an up-close look at the instruments offered. It was also an excellent way for the students and parents to speak to the musicians and the music program staff.

Parents were also encouraged to register their child for an instrument for the 2013-14 school year. Elementary school students in grades 3-5 are eligible to participate in the instrumental music program, where they receive one lesson per week and participate in performance ensemble upon proficiency.
