Levittown Schools Welcome Students Back For New Year

Wednesday was the first day of school across the district.

LEVITTOWN, NY — The Levittown School District opened for the start of the 2021-22 school year on Sept. 2. Administrators, teachers and staff welcomed back approximately 7,000 students at the two high schools, two middle schools and six elementary schools.

“The beginning of a new school year fills us with hope,” Superintendent Dr. Tonie McDonald said. “New books, new pencils and new classrooms symbolize renewal, growth and excitement of what is to come. Whether it be learning in the classroom, scoring a goal on the athletic field or performing on our stages, we hope that all of our children feel a connection to our schools.”

Outside of the elementary schools, parents snapped lots of photos before students went inside to meet their teachers and unpack their new supplies. At Jonas Salk Middle School, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder held a meet-and-greet with sixth graders.
