The Levittown School District is pleased to announce that Wisdom Lane Middle School’s Science Olympiad team finished their season of competition with excellent results. During the state competition at Syracuse University on April 12, four team members won medals in their divisions.
Kevin Ayers and Trevor Wertheimer received second-place medals in the Mousetrap Vehicle contest, while Daniel Russo and Ryan Thompson received third-place medals in Mystery Architecture.
Prior to the state competition, the Science Olympiad team earned 11 medals in eight out of 20 events during the regional competition, and the two teams finished sixth and seventh overall. The seventh-grade team took home second-place medals in the Endangered Species and Mystery Architecture events, third place in Mission Impossible and Mousetrap Vehicle, fourth place in Experimental Design and sixth place in Rotor Egg Drop.
In addition, the eighth-grade team secured a first-place medal in Mousetrap Vehicle. The eighth graders also won second place in Helicopters, Sound of Music and Mission Impossible and sixth place in Forestry.
The district congratulates all of the team members on their excellent performance and accomplishments during the regional and state competitions.
