Levittown Senior Earns Award For Her Coding Ability
Pooja Ginjupalli earned a scholarship from the Rochester Institute of Technology for her impressive technological skills.

LEVITTOWN, NY — General Douglas MacArthur High School senior Pooja Ginjupalli was honored with the Computing Medal Award from the Rochester Institute of Technology for outstanding achievement in computing during the 2020-21 school year. She is now eligible for a $32,000 RIT Computing Medal Scholarship or $8,000 per year, if she is accepted and enrolls at RIT full time after graduation.
To be selected, recipients must demonstrate excellent academic performance in a rigorous curriculum, along with strong leadership abilities. They must also rank in the top 10 percent of their class during their junior year and express an interest and ability in computing.
Ginjupalli is a strong student who has challenged herself with advanced placement and college-level courses. Among her computer-related classes, she has taken app inventor, college graphic design I and II, computer programming I and II and desktop publishing. Ginjupalli is currently enrolled in AP Computer Science A and attended Stevens Institute for Technology this past summer where she was enrolled in the pre-collegiate program, Intro to Coding. Her love of coding is also evident through her involvement in virtual programs such as Kode with Klossy and Girls Who Code.
