Levittown Student Finishes a National Finalist in Doodle 4 Google Competition

The fourth-grader fell just short in the national competition.

After winning the NY State winner, Stokes Elementary student Audrey Zhang was recently named a national finalist in the "Doodle 4 Google" competition, falling short of winning the whole contest.

The winner of the contest gets their artwork featured on the Google homepage, in addition to a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 tech grant for their school.

Zhang's artwork "…will be when I discover paradise!" placed her in the top 5 of the national competition, earning her a $5,000 college scholarship to be used at the school of her choice, a trip to New York City for the final awards ceremony which took place on May 22, a Wacom digital design tablet, and a t-shirt printed with her doodle on it.

Google visited Stokes Elementary School on May 1 to announce to the school that Zhang had been named the NY State winner. The assembly was attended by students, teachers and her family.

Zhang’s idea for the drawing was “a place without pollution or anything that’s not good for environment,” she said at the assembly.

The national winner was Sabrina Brady, a Wisconsin High School student, for her drawing "Coming Home."
