Levittown Students to Present Research at Geography Conference

MacArthur High School student-scientists Alanna Bayarin, Sabrina Chasen and Mike Sagliembene were selected to present projects at the New England-St. Lawrence Valley Geographical Society’s annual conference at Clark University in Worcester, Mass., on Oct. 18-19. 

Science research teacher David Friedman was also invited to present research on climate change, environmental justice and sustainability.

 “We are very proud of these young scientists, who are the first students selected to present their research at this conference,” Mr. Friedman said. 

Alanna is currently researching bats, white nose syndrome and dragonflies, while Sabrina and Mike are researching bio-oils and the corrosion of yellow metals.

According to its official website, NESTVAL was established in 1922 as the nation’s first regional professional geography organization to support and promote regional geography, geography education and research.
