Levittown Superintendent Thanks Community for Passing Budget

The following is a letter from Levittown Schools Superintendent, Dr. James Grossane.

Dear Levittown Community,

I want to take this opportunity to thank the community for their support of the Levittown Public Schools. The budget passed this year with 60 percent majority letting us know that you approve of the job we are doing on behalf of the students of Levittown.

The Board and Central Administration worked diligently to create a budget that guaranteed our students the same level of service next year as they received this year. Our students will once again benefit from a full offering of elective, college level and advanced placement courses at our high schools. The elementary program is untouched, providing full-day kindergarten, instrumental music, "special classes" such as literacy skills, general music, art and physical education. Our many extra-curricular clubs at all levels, and  our middle school, junior varsity and varsity athletics will all remain available to our students.

We are also revising curriculum over the summer to the meet the challenges of the Common Core Curriculum as well as training staff members to introduce our middle school students to an exciting new technology program called "Project Lead the Way." This nationally recognize program, locally affiliated with the Rochester Institute of Technology, will eventually expand into our high schools to develop student skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, otherwise known as STEM. The skills developed in this program will not only increase students' readiness for college and career opportunities, but they will provide students with the "21st Century Skills" sought after in the job markets of today and the future.

Thank you again for your continued support of the Levittown Public Schools. We will always strive to provide our students with the best education possible in these difficult financial times.

Sincerely,

James J Grossane, Ed. D.
