LI Weather: Warm, Rainy Week Ahead For Most Of The Area

LONG ISLAND, NY — Temperatures will be warm most of the week, but Long Islanders will also have to deal with a lot of rain, according to weather forecasts.

After a sunny start, rain is coming into the forecast for most of the week. According to the National Weather Service, rain is likely Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday will be clear and sunny, but rain could come back Friday.

Temperatures will be mild during that time, though. High's are predicted to be in the upper 50s for most of the week.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. South wind 6 to 8 mph.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to near 40 by 8 p.m., then rising to around 45 during the remainder of the night. Southeast wind around 6 mph.

Tuesday: Rain likely, mainly after 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 57. Southeast wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Rain. Low around 51. Southeast wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Rain. High near 58. South wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 55.
