Long Island Weather: Lots Of Rain, Mild Temps This Week

It's likely to rain just about every day this week, according to the National Weather Service. But temperatures will be very comfortable.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The heat wave that hit Long Island last week has finally broken, but now the area is in for a week of rain, according to the National Weather Service. Thankfully, temperatures won't be as brutal as last week.

The forecast for this week is basically rain all week. There's a good chance of rain every day this week, clearing up toward Saturday. However, temperatures are going to be hovering around 80 degrees for most of the week. Friday is likely to be the warmest day this week, with a forecasted high of 85 degrees.

There's also a chance of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening, and Wednesday, as well.

Tuesday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. South wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Tuesday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 81. South wind 5 to 9 mph.

Wednesday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 71.

Thursday: Showers likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
