Long Island Weather: Rainy Week Ahead, With Possible Thunderstorms

LONG ISLAND, NY — After a beautiful, sunny weekend, rain is coming back into the forecast for Long Island this week.

Tuesday will still be sunny and warm. But rain is likely to roll in Tuesday night, and stick around through Thursday. Temperatures will be in the 70s most of the time, too, according to the National Weather Service. There could also be more thunderstorms on Thursday.

The rain is likely to clear up Thursday night. And then it's back to warm temperatures and clear, sunny skies on Friday and into the weekend, with temperatures in the low 80s.

Tonight: Showers likely, mainly after 8 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 62. Southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 71. Southeast wind 9 to 11 mph.

Wednesday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. South wind 8 to 10 mph.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 a.m., then a chance of showers between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
