MacArthur Generals Boys Varsity Soccer off to a Hot Start

The boys varsity soccer team from MacArthur High School has completed the
first half of the conference season with a record of 5 wins and 1 loss.

Ryan Palusko, Matt Norcini and Frank Micieli have led the Generals in scoring, while Rob Bennet and Anthony Rocchio have added key goals as well.

The defense, led by sweeper Greg Baumstein, stopper Pat Newins, Chris Pappas, Matt Bascelli, Christian Kennedy and James Barrett, have assisted goalkeeper Kevin Mayer to a record five shutouts, the second best in all of Nassau County.

A key to the Generals’ success has been the midfield. Ben Zilka, Justin Perez,
Pat Hurley, Joe Giammarusco and Chris Lara have kept the pressure on opposing
teams’ defense throughout the season, while James LaFrance, Diego Rodriguez, Matt Gino and Nick Butcher have provided key moments as well.

The Generals’ next home game is Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. against East Meadow.
