LONG ISLAND, NY — An encroaching polar vortex is going to set temperatures plummeting across Long Island this weekend and into next week, returning us to wintertime. And maybe even bringing a dusting of snow along with it.

Temperatures on Friday are going to be seasonal and warm, but they're going to start to dip over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The high for Saturday is in the mid-50s, but that is with rain and possible thunderstorms. Temperatures dip below 50 on Sunday, and keep falling.

Tuesday will be a little warmer, with a high around 43 degrees. Things will get back to seasonal norms by Wednesday.
