Senator Hannon to Host Free Prostate Screening at Bethpage Library

Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Nassau) recently announced that free prostate screenings will take place on Tuesday, September 24, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, at the Bethpage Public Library (located at 47 Powell Avenue, Bethpage).

"Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of male cancer-related death,” said Hannon.  “Few things are more frightening, confusing, or devastating than a diagnosis of cancer, but the good news is that if detected early, prostate cancer is treatable.”

Hannon urges all men, aged 40 and up, who have not been previously treated for prostate cancer, to make an appointment. The screenings are performed by appointment by Integrated Medical Foundation, Inc., and have no out-of-pocket costs.

“Every 16 minutes in the United States, a man dies from prostate cancer,” said Hannon. “Modern methods of detection and treatment now mean that prostate cancers are found earlier and treated more effectively.  I strongly recommend any man in the Sixth Senatorial District to take advantage of this free screening.”

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, so now is the perfect time to make sure you’re checked.
