Services Set For Nassau Motorcyclist Killed In Crash: 'He Left A Lasting Impression On Everyone He Met'

Daniel Bliss died on Oct. 26 in a hit-and-run DWI crash, police say — and the many who loved him are preparing to bid him farewell.

LEVITTOWN, NY — Services have been set for Daniel Bliss, 63, who was killed in a hit-and-run DWI crash on Oct. 26 in North Bellmore, leaving those who loved him wreathed in sadness.

According to his obituary, posted on the Jerusalem Memorial Chapels website: "Daniel 'Danny' Bliss, aged 63, passed away tragically on October 26, 2025."

Visitation will take place at Jerusalem Memorial Chapels, located at 3026 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown on Saturday, November 1, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. A squadron ceremony will take place at 3 p.m.

"Danny is predeceased by his parents Robert and Ila. He was the beloved brother of Donna, who remembers him not just as a sibling, but as a true friend. His girlfriend, Rachel, was a source of joy and partnership in his later years. Together, they shared a love that was evident to all who knew them."

The obituary added: "His ability to fix and build was matched only by his eagerness to support those he loved. Danny's generosity extended beyond his immediate circle, as he dedicated countless hours to supporting the veterans of American Legion Post 1082, a cause close to his heart.

"Danny's passion for motorcycle riding was more than just a hobby; it was a way of life. He found true freedom on the open road, especially when riding with his American Legion brothers. Together, they not only shared the thrill of the ride but also a commitment to fellowship and service. Danny's dedication to the Legion's mission was unwavering, and he was always ready to step up for his fellow veterans."

One of his Legion colleagues noted the crash "with great sadness."

And, the obituary noted: "Those who knew Danny will remember him for the words that best described him: kind, generous, and handy. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and his legacy of service and friendship will continue to inspire. Danny's life was a testament to the power of kindness, and his memory will be a beacon of light for all who had the privilege of knowing him."

Another friend wrote on Facebook: "Ride in paradise, Danny Bliss. It was a pleasure working with you and also pushing the hogs. There will only be open roads up there, brother. . . . Forever in our prayers, Danny."
