Storm Timeline: Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Could Hit LI Tonight
The National Weather Service says there could be thunderstorms and strong wind gusts in the late night hours.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Rain is going to continue all night here on Long Island, and possibly bring in thunderstorms and wind gusts around 30 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service says there is a chance of thunderstorms overnight, from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. There are possible wind gusts of 30 miles per hour through the morning.
Even if there are no thunderstorms, the rain is going to get heavier overnight, according to forecasts. However, it should taper off Friday morning and lead to partly-cloudy skies for most of the day.

Here's tonight's official forecast from the National Weather Service:
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 a.m., then showers likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 47. East wind 13 to 18 mph becoming south 7 to 12 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
