Town Releases Letter Regarding Recent Prostitution Arrests
The arrests took place on April 16 and May 1 at 172 Center Lane.
An alleged prostitution operation in Levittown tried to re-open following an initial arrest, but "aggressive town monitoring" prevented the re-opening from happening and led to more arrests, the Town of Hempstead said in a recent letter sent out to residents.
On Tuesday, April 16, a Queens woman was arrested while inside 172 Center Lane, an unnamed storefront, after police said she performed an unlicensed massage on an undercover detective and also offered to engage in a sexual act for money.
Two women were arrested at the same location on the same charges on Wednesday, May 1.
The Town said in the letter that they initially informed police that prostitution was reportedly taking place at the location following the first arrest.
"It is important to note that after an initial arrest, the alleged illegal operation attempted to re-open, but aggressive town monitoring prevented that from happening. As a result, additional arrests occurred," the letter stated.
They added the landlord, United Properties Corporation, is commencing with summary proceedings to evict the tenant.
"At the same time, the town's Building Department is working closely with the Nassau Police Department to monitor any suspicious activity at the site," the letter said.
If there is a quality of life issue concerning your community, the Town says to call 516-812-3180. In the event of an emergency, residents are urged to call 911.
